Nuclear Scientist M Wajed Mia (the husband of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina Wajed) has died. 70-year-old M Wajed Mia had been suffering from heart-related problems and kidney disease.

Bangladesh was re-elected member to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term 2009-2012 in an election at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Russia aimed at peaceful utilization of nuclear energy. Officials say that this is the first step towards the installation of a nuclear power plant in Bangladesh.
